Palo Pinto ISD is located in beautiful Palo Pinto,Texas which is the county seat of Palo Pinto County and has a rich history dating back to the 1850's. The first Palo Pinto school was established in 1858 by Ham Baker in a rented cabin and the first purpose built school opened in 1859 with 30 students. The Spanish name Palo Pinto refers to the Spotted Oak, a common regional tree having bark with a mottled appearance.
